Be afraid, be very afraid. Security issues with the IoT mean smart devices can be subverted in a variety of ways and used to attack not only individual users but whole swathes of the population. Consumer pressure isn’t enough. Naming and shaming isn’t enough. We need regulation. In this presentation we explore the standards being mooted and if voluntary frameworks, such as the EU Cybersecurity Law, can deliver.
